And then, from the top of the gambrel, we saw it. That singularly hideous thing, mentioned in the immemorial Pnakotic Manuscripts and the blasphemous Book of Eibon, manifested again, this time as a daemonic iridescence festering at the horizon, which indiscribable stench drove us to an ululating madness in less than one minute. The foetid, amorphous creature was one of the eldritch masks of Nyarlathotep, the decadent and swarthy Messenger from Beyond. From that unnamable veil of macabre effulgence of the Outer, we could feel the abnormal and loathsome influence of Azathoth, Yog-Sothoth and Shub-Niggurath's accursed coupling.
It was something no mortal man could behold; those few who resisted its power and rose from the charnel of their own minds, a nameless and antidiluvian comprehension would struck them like a thunderbolt sent from the gibbous moon. I am now one of those chosen; the others fainted or are dead from their own unutterable self-loathing. Now I am the stygian darkness itself, ruling my own private and shunned hyperdimension, all-seeing in a cyclopean palace at the center of this antique plane, served by the squamous and mutant monsters that, aeons ago, long before the mi-go existed, built the towers of Yuggoth.
Such a pity that my old friends from the Miskatonic Valley have now to deal with my sad, comatose husk. Maybe I visit some night, in dreams, if someone in Kingsport dares again to offer them shelter.

------------------------------- Minha própria tradução para o português:
E então, do topo do telhado, a enxergamos.
